The technologies have spanned from air, land, and sea – from ocean depths to outer space. Kawasaki supports the global rail industry with high speed trains, freight and passenger locomotives and rail cars, and bogies/trucks for rolling stock.
Kawasaki is excited to bring Kawasaki Track Technologies to the North American marketplace. Our vision is to be the technology leader in the rail industry by delivering a platform for the rail industry that provides all track monitoring data, provides software solutions to analyze and predict maintenance needs, and offer services to execute the work. Let us work with you to create value for your organization.
Kawasaki has been delivering track monitoring devices to the Japanese marketplace for over 25 years. After an extensive three year test with a U.S. Class 1 railroad, the LATGMS provides an advanced track maintenance planner. The system can be mounted securely on a locomotive and provides critical data, more frequently, faster, and more precise serving both the needs of maintenance planners and field repair personnel. No more waiting for track time for your rail monitoring equipment. The data from LATGMS can be transmitted nearly real time to customer database or to a proprietary software suite offered by Kawasaki Track Technologies.
The rail industry has near real time data from various sources. Let Kawasaki Track Technologies provide you a customized suite of software that can combine not only your data from LATGMS but also your other critical rail data. The ability to combine data from multiple systems and outside sources such as weather events will allow your railroad to become smarter and ensure maintenance occurs at the right time. We use proprietary technology along with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies for your company to see the future needs of your railroad. The reports generated could be used for forecasting future needs of your railroad or immediate repair orders for field technicians.
Eliminate subjective decisions when performing ballast maintenance. Kawasaki has been testing ballast monitoring add-on to the LATGMS product. With no additional hardware required, we can provide you more information about the condition of your ballast at a much lower cost reducing your overall ballast maintenance spend and improving the health of your rail supporting structure.
In 2022, Kawasaki successfully field tested a locomotive mounted autonomous fastener monitoring system in Japan. The system utilizes AI recognition, machine learning algorithms and high resolution cameras to identify potential track fasteners that need to be inspected and repaired. The technology is now being field tested in North America. Production units are scheduled to be available at the end of 2023.
